Helping at Relief 2.0 in Japan after the Earthquake
BOSTON, Mass, March 20, 2011 – Robin Low – CEO of Greenyarn, a Boston firm developing advanced fabrics for consumers seeking eco-friendly alternatives to conventional materials, is helping at Relief 2.0 in Japan.
Robin Low will travel to Japan to help Carlos Miranda Levy on Relief 2.0 – a nimble, distributed open network, where each member has his connections in different directions who can access different networks to fill gaps created by bureaucracy and slow response from top-down hierarchies.
“With today’s technology, I believe that everyone can help in the crisis,” said Robin Low, CEO of Greenyarn. “Our small collective efforts can add up and create great things.”
Relief 2.0 deploys multidisciplinary and mixed small independent units, empowered to assess each situation and make decisions on their own, constantly connected and supported by mobile technologies and a distributed network of contacts which monitors and follows their activities and requests via social networks and relays any need they have to others who can relay to others until the needs are fulfilled by someone in a broad network of volunteers, stakeholders and concerned institutions.
“Never help, Enable, Empower, Engage and Connect.” Said Carlos Miranda Levy of Relief 2.0, “We need to transform the Earthquake victims into social Entrepreneurs before they are all turned into refugees by the Relief Orgenizations.”
Greenyarn is also contributing smart apparel, deodorizing and antibacterial socks and underwear to Survivors and Aid workers. All the stock that can be carried from the Singapore warehouse is moved and sent to Japan.
“We have been given a gift: The gift of being spared from disaster.” said Carlos Miranda Levy of Relief 2.0,, ” How can we not use our gift to help lift their burden?”
