Dulaang UP on its 34^th season presents its 5^th offering, Bertolt Brecht’s The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui in translation, Ang Muntik Nang Di Mapigilang Paghahari ni Arturo Ui. Alexander Cortez directs this new translation by UP Theatre students Patrick Valera, Katte Sabate and Joshua So; Music composition by Diwa de Leon, Choreography by Dexter Santos, Musical Direction by Krina Cayabyab, Lighting Design by John Batalla, Set Design by Ohm David, Sound Design by Jethro Joaquin, Photography by Jojit Lorenzo, Poster Design by Paolo Santillan, Video design by Winter David, and Costume Design by Trineth Villasis.

The cast are mostly Dulaang UP students. Top billed by Randy Villarama and Neil Sese. Floy Quintos, Meynard Pe-alosa, Mitoy Sta. Ana, Ian Lomongo, Sugus Legazpi, Inno Martin, Nicco Manalo, Carlo Cannu, Vincent Pajara, Sigmund Pecho, Jerson Guiwa, Natasha Cabrera, Martha Sta. Barbara and the Dulaang UP ensemble complete this young and exciting cast.

The play chronicles the rise of Arturo Ui, a fictional 30’s Chicago Mobster and his attempts to control the cauliflower racket by ruthlessly disposing the opposition. It humorously metaphors Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany whose rise Brecht represented in parallel to that of Ui.

Ang Muntik Nang Di Mapigilang Paghahari ni Arturo Ui will be staged at the Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater, 2^nd Floor, Palma Hall, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City on February 17 until March 7, 2010. Weekday shows at 7pm, weekend shows at 10am and 3pm.
