Minnesota Democrats rally behind Lynne Torgerson for Congress as she fights to end racism. Torgerson says “racism must be eradicated. Its side effects are so destructive and long lasting. Each of us must work to eradicate racism all day every day. Integration is the appropriate goal. Further, we also must continue affirmative action for women and minorities. I agree with Martin Luther King Jr. that we are to not judge people by the color of their skin, but rather on the content of their character.”
She goes on to say “I think it is also good to recognize how far we in America have come, both with respect to racism, and sexism, how much things have improved. I myself have benefitted greatly. That does not mean that we don’t have further progress that needs to be achieved. Perhaps it means that further progress will come, because we have made good strides thus far.”
